Landlord & Tenant Law
A GREAT INVESTMENT (IF YOU PLAN FOR IT)
Rental property can be a great investment if handled the right way. Rental property handled the wrong way can turn into a nightmare. A little bit of preparation and proactive planning can go a very long way. When all else fails though, you may need someone to stand up for you in court. I offer both proactive planning and litigation services to my clients.
THE INTERNET IS NOT YOUR FRIEND
The internet has made boilerplate leases readily available to landlords. But there's one major problem with the leases you find after a web search or through online form sellers—they're boilerplate garbage that give no consideration to your goals as a real estate investor and rental property owner. A lease from the internet might be horribly out of date, include illegal terms, or set you up for trouble if it comes time to seek an eviction.
It might be better to have a lawyer draft a lease with your goals in mind before everything goes wrong.
