Insurance Claims & Coverage

Insurance won't pay my claim... what should I do?

Although most interactions with insurance companies are unpleasant, the insurance companies usually handle claims honestly and fairly. Occasionally they don't. When that happens, you have a few options.

  1. You can take what they offer and walk away

  2. You can try to negotiate a better settlement

  3. You can hire a lawyer to help you deal with the insurance company.

If you're reading this, there is a better than average chance that you're currently fighting with an insurance company over a claim. If you are, you know that the policy language is nearly indecipherable. If it's a claim that is valuable, it is well worth your time to have a professional take a look at it.

Typically, if it's an expensive claim (a homeowner's policy claim for property damage, a commercial policy covering liability), you are going to want to hire a lawyer. Smaller claims may not benefit from hiring a lawyer.

In any case, if you're dealing with an insurance company on a claim you think they should pay, schedule a phone consultation with my office and I would be happy to discuss it with you.
